Central Valley Reptiles is a specialty reptile breeder. We specialize in a few select breeds of uromastyx, leopard geckos and some turtles and tortoises. We originally started out raising and caring for uromastyx back in 1987. Since then we have expanded our knowledge of reptile husbandry to include other reptiles.

Since the late 80’s we have cared for and studied several of the uromastyx species. These included the egypticus, hardwickii, ocellata, benti, maliensis, ornatus and acanthinura. In the past we have had to purchase most of our animals as wild caught and because of this we have a great knowledge of how to acclimate uromastyx to their new surrounding, and we know how to spot sick animals and aggression between cage mates. When we were selecting our current breeders we tried our best to buy mostly captive bred uromastyx.

At this point and time we are raising acanthinura, ornatus and maliensis uromastyx. We believe that these make the best pets for novice and experienced reptile keepers. Our animals are housed in inside cages six months out of the year and the other six months they are housed outside. During their time inside they are housed in stock tanks and melamine cages both having UV lights and heat lamps.  When they are outside they get the full benefit of our hot summers ( 110+  *F ) We feed our uromastyx a special salad blend of greens, with vitamin supplementation and then a personal seed mixture we created is in the cages at all times.

We are currently breeding several morphs of leopard geckos. We are breeding Super Hypo Tangerines, Bell Hybinos, Mack Snows, Mack Super Snows, and a few others. All of our original adult breeders were purchased from captive bred stock. It took several months of looking at hundreds of leopard geckos, before we got the right ones we wanted to have as breeders. We hope that you will enjoy as much as we do, the colorful offspring that our breeders are producing.

We also have several turtles and tortoises. We decided to specialize in Cherryhead tortoises and Indian star tortoises. We also have several Rio Grande Cooters, Diamondback Terrapins, and Texas Map Turtles. We have just started our collection of turtles and tortoises so stay tuned as we produce some very nice offspring from our breeders.
